Why does this keep happening? On paper, I should absolutely adore these games. I’m clocking in at only 4 hours at the moment! Yet once again, I have such a hard time actually getting through the game without getting bored. There’s a cool monster thing you have to deal with, survival horror type gameplay is there, the story is interesting, progression is rewarding. People say this game is basically System Shock but newer and better in a lot of ways. Why is the ship being attacked? Who is this AI gal talking to me? It’s brilliant!īut for some god damn reason I always get bored after an hour of playing. There’s inventory management, shooting, hacking, psychological weaponry and a cool mystery to explore. You go through a high tech simulation as a tutorial for how the game works. You craft your backstory and starting gear by making career decisions. System Shock 2 is a game with a creative, fascinating intro.
It’s not my favorite genre ever, but I like it. I love the hell out of Dishonored, Deus Ex, Bioshock, all that shit.
